A Prayer

Father Almighty, if only I could make the situation better, if only I could prevent things from falling apart. At this point, the best that I can do is to rest everything upon you. Please help us overcome all these. Ease out the anger, help us forget the pain and allow love to rule in our hearts.

May You bless us with prosperity, good health and the power to win all our battles in the coming year. All this we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.

Just a Thought

People are faced daily with complicated situations and a few times far complicated options which in turn lead us to the right path, or at least when we believe we have chosen the right one.

Watching a copy of “The Devil Wears Prada” made me ponder on a few unexplored facts in life. Sure, my fashion sense is gravely dull and I do admit to being unaware of it for God knows how long a time. But the film screams out loud far more important concerns in life than just a peek into the glamorous world of fashion.

Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is a fresh journalism grad who could well be described as a fashion-unconscious by the conscious, tries her luck at applying as co-assistant for Runway magazine’s editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). With a positive and determined attitude, Andy gets the post to the surprise of everyone.

Miranda, with her ever modulated voice and piercing sarcasm never fails to terrorize those around her including the newly-hired assistant Andrea. Each day becomes more delirious for her though. Calls from her boss in the middle of a dinner with her father or at the verge of a break-up with her boyfriend add up to the impossibility of the poor girl’s daily existence and to some extent Andrea seems to no longer have control of her own life.

In the end, Andrea realizes that living a life outside of her own was not what she had wanted. The fancy clothes and the fancy people were not and will nowhere be within her circle. Andrea finally knew the right thing to do and that was far more important than merely pleasing an unpredictable boss at the expense of displeasing everyone who cares for her.

Choices are made, not merely accepted as they come. We can choose to be beautiful or ugly, stylish or plain. Or we can be in the middle or a range beyond. Ultimately, it is what we decide to be, the path we choose to lead that matters, and how we stand up for it and enjoy the journey.

Lost and Found

Could this be my lucky day? Okay. First of all, since technically it's already Saturday, when I say "this day" I'm referring to yesterday, Friday. But of course, having just gotten back home, it feels only a few moments ago.

The surprise of my life, the reason why I'm so ecstatic this late time of the evening (or is it day?) and the single force that drives me into writing crappy proclamations of love in this blog has staged an apparition. Yes! He emerged out of the deepest dungeons of oblivion.

Suddenly, my heart palpitated in severe motion. My blood rushed through my veins like hot lava streaming down a volcano. That same feeling which I thought would have been gone by the time I see him again was never lost after all.

I do not wish to elaborate how, when and where I found him again. All those are insignificant to what I'm feeling now. Heck, I can't even describe what it is that really drives me nuts now. Is it because I really really like him? Or is it merely nostalgia? I've got no idea. And I do not wish to know either...

But then, let me just be all too excited now with that one great moment in my life. A view of gods and goddesses won't hurt at all. Let me let this feeling cease first, then I can move on and completely forget about this madness which at the very thought of it is proof enough of how pathetic my life has been all this time. Ay, poor me!

My Ken

Ken, Ken, Oh Ken...Think I'm in love...(again?!) But why not? He's just the cutest thing on earth. I heart him!

Batanes

If I were to choose a favorite place to travel to, I’d definitely pick Batanes. I fell in love with it ever since I got to watch a feature on it in one local show a couple of years ago. Since then, I began to cultivate a dream of one day living and experiencing life in arguably one of the most beautiful places this side of the planet.

Next month, the film Batanes will premiere in local cinemas. This early, I cannot contain my excitement and eagerness of seeing this film. Hopefully, more people will be able to watch it and be thankful that God has showered us with such natural wonder.

I’ve seen the trailer and even the musical score gives me goosebumps. Its lead stars Ken Zhu and Iza Calzado add color to the already colorful setting of the film. And yes, there’s even a seemingly well-woven tale of romance that’s brewing up in the film. What else can anyone ask for?

Sickness

My tummy still aches. I have been having diarrhea for two days now and it has been causing my anus to get sore. Erm...should I even be saying that? Sorry...Aside from that, I've been feeling a little dizzy.

So last night, my brother (who suffers the same fate) and I went directly to FEU in Fairview so we can have our stool sample and blood tested. Apparently, we have the same diagnosis: Acute Gastroenteritis.

Before leaving the workplace today, I consulted one of the doctors in the office and she told me that an illness as such could last for two weeks. But she prescribed other medicines that would help speed up my recovery. She also gave me tips on what to eat and what not to eat. My sincerest thanks to her. I gained a lot of information on this illness from her. I'm just really praying that soon enough I will get well. I'm pretty sure of that...with the help of the Lord, of course.

Current Obsession

I've been downloading a lot (and I mean...A LOT!) of Basil Valdez songs lately. Why? Why? Oh Why? Basil songs are everywhere. They are just too hard to resist especially with the romantic heart that I have...Here's one of my favorite Basil classics:

Kastilyong Buhangin

Minsan ang 'sang pangako'y maihahambing
Sa isang kastilyong buhangin,
Sakdal-rupok at huwag di masaling
Guguho sa ihip ng hangin

Ang alon ng maling pagmamahal
Ang s'yang kalaban n'yang mortal,
Kapag dalampasiga'y nahagkan
Ang kastilyo ay nabubuwal

Kayat bago nating bigkasin ang pagsintang sumpa
Sa minumutya, sa diwa't gawa,
Pakaisipin naitn kung pag-ibig ay wagas
Kahit pa magsanga ng landas

Minsan dalawang puso'y nagsumpaan
Pag-ibig na walang hanggan,
Sumpang kastilyong buhangin pala
Pag-ibig na pansamantala.

Kayat bago nating bigkasin ang pagsintang sumpa
Sa minumutya, sa diwa't gawa,
Pakaisipin naitn kung pag-ibig ay wagas
Kahit pa magsanga ng landas

Minsan dalawang puso'y nagsumpaan
Pag-ibig na walang hanggan,
Sumpang kastilyong buhangin pala
Pag-ibig na
Pansamantala, luha ang dala
'Yan ang pag-ibig na nangyari sa atin,
Gumuhong kastilyong buhangin.

Your Brain is Purple

Of all the brain types, yours is the most idealistic.
You tend to think wild, amazing thoughts. Your dreams and fantasies are intense.
Your thoughts are creative, inventive, and without boundaries.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking of fictional people and places - or a very different life for yourself.

Fave Song

MINSAN PA

tila wala pang minahal at walang natagpuan.
Nais ko sanang mag-isa't huwag nang umibig pa.

Kung yan man ay totoo at manatili sa mundo,
na walang buhay, walang kulay, walang nagmamahal.
Ngunit kung ako'y maghihintay umasa pa't
umibig pang muli...
Minsan pa.

Minsan pa akong nangarap
at sana'y maganap.
Sa iyo'y ibibigay lahat.
Narito ngayo't kailanman.

At hanggang wakas,
pag-ibig ko'y sadyang wagas,
ngayon at kailanman...
Minsan pa.

Never seem to get tired of singing Faith Cuneta's version of a Zsa Zsa Padilla original, Minsan Pa. This has got to be one of the best Filipino songs I've heard so far. Love it, love it, love it!!!!!!

I'm Sorry, I Love You

Maybe I have said it too often that nobody listens to me anymore when I say, I'm in love.

Alright, the kind of love that I mean when I say "love" hasn't reached any farther than a chocolate-flavored infatuation for anyone who captures my fancy...But I'm ready to love if I should prove to myself that it isn't just about fantasies and wishes.

Yes, I'm in love again. Cupid's arrow struck my heart, hit it bull's eye.

So Ji-Sub has ruled my heart. He has even dominated my dreams. Yes, I'm becoming delusional. But I love the feeling. I love it that I can have a reason to look forward to each day of my life.

And oh, that cancelled trip to Korea...I want it badly now. I want to reach my highest star. Ji-Sub, saranghe!

I'm back...again!

I'm back, finally. Been missing out a lot of blogger lately ever since I got crazily hooked on Korean cinema. Crazy, mad, I'll watch anything Korean!

So in love with Korean movies and shows that instead of surfing the net on my spare time, I'd rather watch Korean movies and shows through our very dependable DVD player. Voila!

Ask me about our local shows, I'll probably be clueless because lately I haven't been tuning in to TV either. Such a shame indeed. But hey, I get entertained. That's all that matters, right?

That Someone

Here I am again writing about a film I had enjoyed watching. Silly me for being so mushy. Ah but really, if you want to see brilliant love stories, try Korean cinema. Even their romantic comedies can make some cold-hearted person cry.

Daddy Long Legs, a sad story of unrequited love is probably one of the most romantic films I've seen so far. It made me think deeply of a possibility that there could be someone out there who has so much love to give yet that love isn't reciprocated because either the person cannot let the other know how he feels or maybe the other is too blind to notice.

Well, well, well...I do not know. Maybe there is one for me, maybe there isn't, maybe I'm wishing for one...I guess we all get excited by the thought that someone could be so in love with us, who loves us even without us loving them back, someone who cares for us in their own special way. Wouldn't it be nice that we have someone who watches over us every moment of our life and that we know we're never alone?

One Sided Love

Your heart overflows with love,
but misses where it's headed to.
Your mind saves you from all the hurt
but the heart can't seem to follow through.

The heart does have a mind of its own,
that you agree,
but can't it think clearly?

Feelings tend to confuse,
and soon you find yourself thrown
into a sudden outpouring of emotion.

The kind of love that will never fail,
and that will always stay,
a love that will never ever miss...
is a love that does not have to insist.

If you love someone, you say it, you say it right then, out loud, or the moment just passes you by...

A Very Inspiring Quote

"Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong." - Ella Fitzgerald

----
very true!

Once in a Summer

What time is it? Ah, here I am again, doing my usual thing this time of the night or is it already morning?

Just finished watching “Once in a Summer” starring Lee Byung Hun and Soo Ae. I must admit, I wasn’t expecting much from this film but it turned out to be such a moving drama, so compelling that I found myself crying towards the end of the film. I actually hate it when a movie makes me cry. But then, no matter how hard I try to keep myself from crying, I just can’t. My goodness, “Once in a Summer” is nearly impeccable!

The film, mostly set in 1969 Korea tells the story of Suk-young (played so convincingly by Lee Byung Hun), a rich kid who in the year of turbulence in Korea joins his fellow students to do volunteer work in the countryside one beautiful summer. There he meets Jung-In, a town librarian whom he instantly gets attracted with. Yes, he fell in love with her at first sight.

But the journey to love will never be easy. This movie proves that love alone can’t keep two people together. Or maybe, it is making us realize that real love is not merely having that someone beside us, but knowing that even if we aren’t with them, love continues to burn. And though, one had to leave this earth, the memories of their love will forever live. Ah golly, here I am crying once again…

Sunday, August 19, 2007

I know, I know. I need to sleep na. But before I do so, let me just post this poem which served as a foreword to an online novel I wrote some two years ago. Naks! Online novel? Haha...Basta! Here it is:

I was blind not to have seen the beauty in you,

and failed to see the importance of your love for me.

Now I regret each moment lost,

each passing day that’s wasted without you.

From now on, I’ll be holding on to a dream,

that each moment of my life,

you will serve as my light.

I’ll be wishing you’d come back to me.

then I won’t have to be lonely.

"Foolish Games"

Jewel

You took your coat off and stood in the rain,
You're always crazy like that.
And I watched from my window,
Always felt I was outside looking in on you.
You're always the mysterious one with
Dark eyes and careless hair,
You were fashionably sensitive
But too cool to care.
You stood in my doorway, with nothing to say
Besides some comment on the weather.

[Pre-Chorus 1]
Well in case you failed to notice,
In case you failed to see,
This is my heart bleeding before you,
This is me down on my knees, and...

[Chorus]
These foolish games are tearing me apart,
And your thoughtless words are breaking my heart.
You're breaking my heart.
You're always brilliant in the morning,
Smoking your cigarettes and talking over coffee.
Your philosophies on art, Baroque moved you.
You loved Mozart and you'd speak of your loved ones
As I clumsily strummed my guitar.
You'd teach me of honest things,
Things that were daring, things that were clean.
Things that knew what an honest dollar did mean.
I hid my soiled hands behind my back.
Somewhere along the line, I must've gone
Off track with you.

[Pre-Chorus 2]
Well, excuse me, guess I've mistaken you for somebody else,
Somebody who gave a damn,
Somebody more like myself.

[Chorus]
You took your coat off,
Stood in the rain,
You're always crazy like that.

Plain and Simple

After countless battles with the intricacies of liking someone and undoing it, I have come to a realization. I no longer wish to go into battle with love. I'm tired of figuring out what the other person might be thinking, what the other person might be feeling. And I'm so bored at making myself heard, at making someone know what I feel.

I guess that when you reach a certain age, your outlook and strategies in life differ drastically. I no longer wish to be involved in a game of guessing and decoding at the chance of getting love.

If it will come, it will come. If a person likes me, he will make himself heard. I do not have to guess if he likes me or if he's just being nice. I'm sick of analyzing. It gets so much of my time...it's senseless. If someone truly wants to be with me, he will do anything to be with me. He will have time for me no matter how hectic his schedule is.

If he loves me, he will tell me...straight to my face how he truly feels. That's it. Plain and simple.

Another Memorable Movie Quote

Just watched the film My Best Friend's Wedding a while ago. My golly, that one line Dermot Mulroney uttered really hit me like crazy. I agree!!!!

"Kimmy says if you love someone you say it, you say it right then, out loud. Otherwise the moment just...passes you by."

Top Five Romantic Movie Lines

I'm in a senti mode so forgive me for being soooo mushy. It's just for today. Hehe.

My Top Five Romantic Movie Lines:

5. When Harry Met Sally:

"I love that you get cold when it's seventy degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend a day with you I can still smell your perfume on my clothes, and I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night."

4. Notting Hill

“Don't forget. I'm just a girl standing in front of a boy...asking him to love her."

3. Somewhere In Time

"The man of my dreams has almost faded now. The one I have created in my mind. The sort of man each woman dreams of in the deepest and most secret reaches of her heart. I can almost see him now before me. What would I say to him, if he were really here? Forgive me, I have never known this feeling. I've lived without it all my life. Is it any wonder, then, that I fail to recognize you? You-- who brought it to me for the first time. Is there any way I can tell you how my life has changed? Any way at all to let you know what sweetness you have given me? There is so much to say...I cannot find the words. Except for these-- I love you! Such would I say to him, if he were really here."

2. The Notebook

"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds and that's what you've given me."

1. While You Were Sleeping

"Do you believe in love at first sight? Nah, I betcha don't, you're probably too sensible for that. Or have you ever, like, seen somebody? And you knew that, if only that person *really* knew you, they would, well, they would of course dump the perfect model that they were with, and realize that YOU were the one that they wanted to, just, grow old with. Have you ever fallen in love with someone you haven't even talked to? Have you ever been so alone you spend the night confusing a man in a coma?"

Who's Your Mr. Right?

You scored 60%

The Sensitive Guy

Isn't he sweet? You definitely go for the guy who has a serious case of feelings -- whether he wears them on his sleeve or not. Manners seem important to him, and to you. And it's a good bet your soul mate would as easily tune in to ballads on the radio as he would stage a protest against cruelty to animals. Tapping into his soft side, however, may not always be so easy. A guy who's clued in to his feelings may also be protective of them. So if you find yourself face-to-face with one of these sweeties, don't wait for him to make the first move. Let him know you want to get to know him better. Sensitive types think with their heart as well as their brain -- he'll get the hint.

Burgundy

Nah. Not that I'm complaining, I even think it's a huge compliment each time people ask if I had my hair dyed or something...But when the same question is asked over and over again, it gets a little annoying na rin. No, I didn't dye my hair after I had it rebonded. My natural hair color isn't really black. It's dark brown.

But is it really? I thought all along that it was until this afternoon when two people commented that the color of my hair daw is actually...burgundy!

Burgundy? Isn't that color supposed to be purple red to black red? Whatever...

Happy!

Though there are things to be feeling unhappy about, there are more reasons to be thankful for. First and probably the most important one: Hazel's wallet had been returned to her yesterday. Yes! It was returned to her, all cards and money included. That's what I call, God's working. It could have been anybody who badly needed money, someone who would do anything to have such huge amount in his pocket but the Lord willed it to go to someone who believes in Him, someone who fears Him, who fears in his punishment, someone who knows what true goodness really means. Praise God is all i can say.

He indeed touches hearts. The most wonderful thing about it is that, He gave Hazel (and I guess myself included) a lesson or two on living humbly and taking good care of His blessings, but He did so without taking away anything from us. In the end, Hazel even gained. Through everything that happened, she was able to know her truest of friends, and she has proved that man definitely has a capacity to be good. Amen!

Another reason to celebrate is my brother's promotion from work. What really struck me is that slowly, he recognizes God's powerful hands, the designs the Lord creates for him. Allan has always been skeptic of God's purpose for him. Only this morning, Allan confessed that he trusted the Lord in this, that he merely surrendered his application for promotion unto God. And that now, he understands why his previous attempts failed. God really doesn't give him just a little of what he wants, he gives what he truly wants and sometimes, even more. Praise the Lord once again!

I was about to mention about the bad things that happened this week, but honestly, a phone line cut after an angry storm that hit our area last wednesday doesn't match to the happiness the promotion and Hazel's wallet being returned have brought me and my family. A while ago, I talked to one customer service representative and I didn't get angry a bit or curse her. That's what I used to do when I get frustrated...Used to...

I realize now that no matter how frustrated I get, it shouldn't reflect on my personality, on the way I deal with people. First of all, the agent is just one of many people in the telephone company. She can't do anything more than report the problem. But to get fuming mad at her is senseless. And it will even hurt. What I can do now is to continuously pray. Now if repair doesn't come as expected, it is the Lord's will. But I will always be hoping and following that up of course, without curses and hate.

Life is beautiul indeed!

God bless you!!!!

Dinner at Gerry's Grill

Took my family to Gerry's for dinner. Originally, the plan was to have lunch at around 12 noon. But it was not possible since I had to fix a couple of things at work that same time. It also wouldn't make me any bit comfortable if I went on with the plan, when I know that without me, chaos would be ruling my workplace. Haha. Am I that important to my channel? I definitely don't feel that way. At least, financially speaking. Bummer.

Anyway, we enjoyed the dinner a lot! We ordered baked mussels, seafood soup, inihaw na pusit, blue marlin steak, chopseuy, lechon kawali, and buko pandan and halo halo for dessert. Yum! Yum!

We did some picture taking. Allan and Daddy drank a little San Mig Light. As for me, I enjoyed an order of bottomless iced tea. Beer is a no-no for me, no matter how "light" it is. I don't like it, period.

And Mommy? I'm not so sure if she ate anything at all. It wasn't even the main course when she said something like, "I think I'm already full." Ngek!

Surely, it has made me spend a lot of money but I don't mind, as long as I see my family happy. Hope we continue to live in love and harmony.

Oh, how I thank God for the happiness of my family!

Your Result: You attract geeks!

Your stunning intellect and love of sci-fi and video games allures the geeks like nothing else. Maybe it is the sparkle in your eye that makes them want to text you, who knows. Geeks make good partners, but tend to be arguementative. If you are a TRUE geek magnet, you will know if that was spelled correctly, and actually care. If it is a bad-boy/bad-girl you are seeking, you are barking up the wrong tree, unless they are just 'bad' behind a PS2 console.

I'm sad...

It's supposed to be a peaceful Saturday, but my heart still bleeds for Hazel. Please Lord, help me overcome the burden I'm having now...The guilt I have for knowing that she had only tried to help me and in doing so, lost her money. I regret having brought her along. I need peace, oh Lord. Please grant my plea.

About being unlucky...

I posted this on the comment page of a blog that really caught my interest. The author was asking why he seems to have it all when it comes to career, friends, etc. But when it came to matters of the heart and love, he feels unlucky. I don't know, but being single myself, here are a few things i could advise him:

if you choose to linger on negative thoughts, then you'll really feel unlucky. but if you focus on the positive aspects of being single and unattached, you won't feel that way. how do you see a glass of water? is it half empty or half full?

how do you view your life? as far as i know, single people can still be lucky. why not focus on the more important facets of your life first? because maybe god is letting you work on them now before you get too involved with someone.

remember, being with someone whether you love that person so dearly or you're just attached for the heck of it doesn't equate happiness and luck. i think the lord wants you to find yourself first before you can find that someone for you.

try reading "joyfully single" by harold sala. it'll help you ease out the worries you might be having for failing to find your one true love and in the process, mold you into becoming the best person for the woman god has planned to be with you for the rest of your life.

----

My discernment could be wrong. It is only the person who could truly understand his situation. But there's no point in getting all frustrated just because love seems to be aloof.

Love will come in the most perfect time God chooses. There's no point in forcing it to happen.

Hazel

I cannot believe it. Up to now, it still feels like a dream. Hazel, my dear friend, who leads us to a faithful discipleship of the Lord had experienced a major setback in life. And it's even more painful because I witnessed everything. Tears just keep pouring down my cheeks, that I don't think I could ever get well. But then again, I know there's always a shoulder that I can cry on, that is of course, The Lord.

Hazel lost a huge amount of money. Something that she had worked really hard for, but which disappeared in an instant. A result of carelessness, it could be. A result of failing to see and think right, probably. So many reasons that in a godless perspective, could have resulted to an outright renouncement of faith.

Though something terribly wrong happened to Hazel, it did not shaken her trust in God's authority. It shouldn't.

I remember when my visa application was denied, I asked for her spiritual advice because I was too burdened by the fact that I know I did my best for the application, yet I got rejected. What she said afterward really created a huge impact on me. Hazel made me understand that faith in God is not just about learning to accept blessings from Him, but accepting even trials, problems, setbacks. For He can never test our faith by just giving us wonderful things. The state of the heart will be tested in times of crisis. This, I guess is a test on Hazel's trust in the Lord. Wonderfully, she has passed God's test though in all honesty, she's still struggling to fully understand God's reason for such misfortune.

I've always admired Hazel. Her faith is unequaled. And now, I admire her even more because despite everything that happened, she is able to think clearly. How many people can see light in darkness? She could have blamed anyone and everyone but she chose not to...Though it pains her, she humbled herself even more and surrendered all her problems to the Lord.

But I still believe that despite everything, Hazel is still blessed. She has friends who would give their life to her if she only asked them to. The girl possesses a strong spirit that cannot be broken easily. A defeat is not necessarily a downfall, but a way for her to move up, to soar higher.

That's the Hazel that I know. That is why I admire her. I wouldn't be the person that I am now (though I still struggle to be good) if it wasn't because of her. I know she can overcome all these and still carry on a humble and compassionate heart.

I pray that tonight, she finds peace in her heart. That the Lord will comfort her and make her feel even more loved. I'm sure that would be easy...knowing how pure her heart is.

Hazel will triumph over any obstacles because God is good and just. He will never give us a problem He knows we can never overcome.

Cycle

Lately, I'm being burdened by an absolutely weird idea. Analyzing the situation, I cannot help but laugh at my ignorance and naiveté.

Why do I desire for something that I will never have? Why is "liking" someone becoming a cycle that I can't seem to get rid of? When will I grow up?

Oh Lord...I trust in your will. Just please help me find a way out of this pathetic cycle I'm in.

Kainan

Yey!!!! May datung na ulit ako...Salamat sa Diyos sa lahat ng blessings.

I've been anticipating for the heavily awaited var pay. Kaya nga it is such a relief that finally we'll be receiving it na. I pray na sana maalagaan ko ang kahit anong matatanggap ko. Parati kong pinagpe-pray na bigyan ako ni Lord ng guidance para ma-manage nang maayos ang finances ko.

This weekend, I plan to bring my family to Gerry's Grill. When exactly on a weekend is still a problem of mine. Usually kasi my father has work on a Saturday, so maybe lunchtime sa Sunday kami kakain. Excited na ako this early.

I cherish kasi the few moments na buo ang family. Malimit kasi wala kami sa bahay since halos lahat kami nagta-trabaho, si mommy lang ang naiiwan. So 'yung mga weekend lamyerda namin, yun ang pinakamasaya sa amin. I really think our samahan is getting stronger. This one I have to be thankful kay Lord. Siya talaga ang nagpapanatili ng harmony sa bahay.

Am I in love?

Am I in love?

Someone asked that after seeing the humongous pimple on my forehead.

My answer:

No.

Think that was it?

Yeah, I lied...oh but maybe I'm trying to think the fantastic once again...

Question again, please!

Am I in love?

I'll answer that one with another question:

Is it possible to fall for someone you don't know that much?

Forget it.

It's just a crazy idea of mine. A discernment brought about by a strange belief in signs.

But I've grown old reading signs.

I want to see something tangible. Hello?!!!!!

The Victory in Defeat

Just when everything has been ironed out for my planned Korean trip, there goes one of the most painful disappointments of my life: My visa application had been denied.

Honestly, I have prepared myself for the possibility of being rejected but it really is different when you’re in the situation itself.

I’m just thinking that maybe it’s the Lord’s will that the trip doesn’t push through. Maybe He has other plans for me. I’ll never really know. For now I’m just continuously praying that the Lord gives me a humble and understanding heart so I would stop being too burdened.

Not a few of my friends have advised me to consider it as a learning experience, a part of living life. It helps also that I attend a bible study that takes place in our workplace every week. If I didn’t become part of our small Christian Group, I’d probably blame either the entire Korean people or God for my defeat. Worse, I’d blame them both.

I might have cried for a moment in the solitude of my room but amazingly, I don’t feel any hatred or ill feelings towards anyone. I don’t blame anybody for such rejection. Sure, I feel disappointed, but then it’s a normal reaction to any kind of failure. Or is it really? Most of the time just because our wishes aren't granted, we deem things that do not go on our favor as a failure, a setback when it shouldn't. Maybe, it's a way to test faith.

Though I'm not discounting the pain it has caused me, looking at the brighter side, there are things to be happy about amidst all this. I’m relieved that finally I can go on with my life, that I can start focusing on other things. The Korean trip could have been a wonderful experience for me. It could have somehow taught me to live on my own, to become independent which I have not been able to practice in my life yet. But just like what everybody says, there could be a reason behind it. I may not see it now. But eventually I will understand why and will be thankful things happened the way they did. For now, all I can do is to stay happy and just leave it all up to Him, for only He knows what is best for me.
